Montana Senior Citizens Association (MSCA)Is for You! MSCA is not about how old you are, it’s about your future. It’s about what Montana will be like when you decide to retire. It’s about what heritage you will leave for your children and they for their children. It’s about Social Security and Medicare and whether they will be there for you and them down the road. MSCA is about people and their quality of life, about their future.Did You Know?Like much of the nation, the state of Montana’s median population is back-ended in terms of age. This means that over the next 20 years, Montana’s composite population age will undergo a demographic paradigm shift, with an unprecedented number of technically “senior citizens” suddenly over the age of 55. Currently, under 10 of Montana residents fall between the ages of 55 and 64 as compared to 15 of state residents aged 45 to 54, sitting on the threshold of senior citizenship. Another 15.7 are set to follow over the next decade, currently aged 35 to 44. The statistics support that we cannot wait any longer to address key issues pertinent to the older members of the community. Neglecting these issues now, while there is still time to prepare for the coming influx in average age, will only adversely affect future generations. Make decisions and take action now, even if you are under the age of 55, while you are still young enough to make timely, appropriate decisions. Don’t pass the buck to future generations and depend on them to take care of you. What is the MSCA?The Montana Senior Citizens Association (MSCA) is the largest senior grassroots group based in Montana. Organized in 1973 to address a wide range of issues, it is an organization working for Montanans. MSCA members are of all ages from teenagers to centenarians. The MSCA works to form coalitions with other non-profit groups to address issues such as: health care, the environment, energy, a living wage, social security, taxes, etc.MSCA is about your future!MSCA is a growing, working grassroots organization empowering individual Montanans to reach their full potential, recognizing that in unity there is strength.
